Seminar: Detecting eye blinking with smart eyeglasses
Background
Eye blinking is associated with attention. Blinking frequency changes during different activities. Eye blinking has a wide range of applications in human computer interface (HCI). Monitoring eye blinking rate can indicate fatigue levels e.g. during driving, and even reminds people to blink when staring at a screen! Existing eye blinking detection approaches often cannot suit resource-limited platforms like smart eyeglasses or perform not accurately enough for HCI applications. In the project, we aim at detecting eye blinking using sensors integrated in smart eyeglasses.
Aim
Prototype smart eyeglasses, detect eye blinking using smart eyeglasses.
Learning objectives
- Prototype activity monitoring wearables.
- Design study protocols and arrange data collection.
- Detect activities using multi-model sensor data.
