Background

Auscultation is a standard medical practice performed by clinicians when inspecting a patient complaining about abdominal pain. Listening to the sounds produced by the gut during digestion allows us to non-invasively observe and monitor the gastro-intestinal functionality.

The goal of this work is to develop a detection algorithm for bowel sounds, suitable for long-term abdominal monitoring.

Aim

The project aims to develop a bowel sound detector to be embedded in the GastroDigitalShirt prototype developed at the Chair.

Learning objectives

  • Learn concepts of body sounds
