iGlass Lite: Capture and keep daily eating moments.

Course/Project description

Chewing and biting are two interesting targets of dietary monitoring. The proposed student project aims at offering a wearable solution of chewing and biting monitoring in free-living by integrating sensors in smart eyeglasses. In the first stage, chewing and biting sensors would be integrated on 3D-printed eyeglasses. A basic data recording system would be implemented. Secondly, a pilot study would be conducted to collect a minimized sensor dataset including eating activities. The data quality would be assessed, and results would be used to optimize the system with focus on sensor positioning, event-triggering and online processing strategy. The project will yield a ready-to-use version of eating monitoring eyeglasses that could be contributing to long-term eating monitoring.
